Running Assessment
Running Biomechanics Assessment
Running biomechanics can play a major role in repetitive or overuse injuries. By analysing how your body moves when running, inefficient movement patterns (resulting in tissue overload) can be identified and corrected to help reduce injury risk, accelerate return to full running program or sport, and improve performance.
Who is this assessment for?
Our osteopaths — Dr Jordan Moncrieff, Dr Daniel Ross, Dr Jethro Cooney and Dr Georgia Bahnsen — offer detailed running assessments and biomechanics retraining for runners of all levels.
This assessment is ideal for runners who:
Experience recurring running injuries
Want to improve running technique and efficiency
Are looking to prevent injury
Want to run faster or for longer
Are aiming to enhance performance
What does the assessment involve?
Your osteopath will record you performing a series of running drills from multiple angles (front, back and side). Footage is reviewed in slow motion to assess each phase of your gait cycle and identify areas contributing to injury or reduced efficiency.
To achieve the best possible outcomes, this analysis is combined with a clinical assessment of posture, alignment, movement, joint range of motion, muscle strength, and stability. Based on the findings, your osteopath may provide:
Running technique retraining,
Osteopathic manual therapy,
Exercise rehabilitation,
Advice on training load and footwear, and/or
- A combination of all the above.
Assessments are typically conducted on a nearby sporting field, close to our clinic locations. To arrange a Running Biomechanics Assessment, speak to your osteopath at your next appointment.
